4 Reasons You Shouldn’t Hire Expat Consultants
Avoid travel consultants who…
1. Only tell you what to do
2. Don’t offer you the when and why to do something
3. Don’t attach the importance of universal principles
4. Don’t recognize and present that there is a Creator of all universal laws
In this article, we have expanded the 4 Levels of Learning to those around living abroad, and Expat Consulting and Strategy (which we do).
1. You Must Do Something “This Way”!
Mistake #1 – they tell you what to do without context.
You need to know context, without context, you will end up frustrated when the thing fails.
Example:
If someone only tells you that you can live on only $1,500 a month in a location without context you’ll suffer.
They don’t know your situation, spending habits, lifestyle, etc.
2. When & Why?!
Beware of travel strategists who don’t offer you the when and why to do something.
You won’t get your desired results if you execute something out of order.
If you don’t know why you’re doing something you lack the important element of judgment which is extremely important the more complex the task.
Trust me, a move abroad is complex and requires a lot of judgment on your part.
Example:
In the $1,500 example above, did they tell you that they:
- Only eat local food
- Live in the village
- Go without amenities?
You need to know when this $1,500 works and why.
You don’t want to be solving THE WRONG PROBLEM.
3. It’s the PRINCIPLE of the Thing
You want to avoid expat experts who don’t attach the importance of universal principles.
Principles are laws, and not knowing how a law is applied will keep you from optimal success.
A principle works every time no matter the circumstances.
Gravity – it is a universal law that what goes up must come down.
You will learn that knowing that the culture trumps your best efforts (sometimes it is not enough to do your best).
You must do what is required.
Example:
You finally realize that your chances of getting a job are slim to none, so you intend to start a business.
Your main thrust is to make money because Business Visas are the thing…Oops.
The travel coach didn’t remind you that the paramount reason for business is to serve others.
When you enter business just for the money you set yourself up for eventual failure.
This, my friends, is a universal principle.
Solomon’s wealth was founded on him first asking to serve others with wisdom.

4. Know the Creator of the Universal Principles
Avoid those who don’t recognize and present that there is a Creator of all universal laws.
The Most High God (Yah) is an actual being with character and nature.
By knowing His original intention you position yourself for all of the benefits of His kingdom.
Example:
His original intention was abundance, however, because we want the lowest price on everything. we forget the service providers, like…
- Drivers
- Expat Coaches
- Dadas (nannies)
We forget those who have a family to provide for, and we look for ways to circumvent paying them.
When this happens we become less like God’s character and our access to His kingdom shrinks.
We miss a kingdom principle that the fee we pay is for OUR benefit.
Yes, us, the payee.
It is our sacrifice, and you cannot get a blessing without a sacrifice!
So, you DO want to pay premium dollars for those Expat Coaches who incorporate these 4 powerful elements in their guidance to you.
