Read Me If You Always Wanted to Live In Japan
A quick story.
My brother Daniel skipped his high school Prom to experience an epic Mount Fuji bus tour and dinner with our dad.
The two of them spent the next 10 days enjoying Japan’s restaurants, and experiencing their entertainment studios, temples, gardens, – and they even fed deer in Nara parks.
Deer! 🦌
In the park!
I was so jealous of him because I always wanted to visit Japan too – even my best friend went when he was in high school.
I have still never been. But a new opportunity to do so might have just opened up!
Japan has a new Digital Nomad Visa! I saw the news on TikTok – thank you algorithm!
If you want to work remotely in Japan and your business makes more than USD $60,000 (Japanese Yen: JPY 10 Million) a year, then you can.
You can learn more by reading the full report from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.
Make sure you check monetary exchange rates regularly – some change DAILY!
New opportunities like this are opening up around the world all the time, you just have to pay attention and see how they align with your vision for your personal and professional life.
If you’ve followed us for any length of time then you know we love sharing resources for living abroad anywhere – not just in Africa with us.
If you are looking to relocate back to the Mother Land on a Digital Nomad Visa, you might consider these African Countries:
- Mauritius 🇲🇺
- Namibia 🇳🇦
- Cape Verde 🇨🇻
- Seychelles 🇸🇨
You can read a comprehensive list describing each country’s offerings and Digital Nomad visa qualifications over at Discovery Sessions’ list of 24 Digital Nomad visas in 2024.
Your vision to move abroad is closer to reality than you think – we told you it’s POSSIBLE!
Exciting news like this is bound to make you reevaluate your progress toward moving abroad.
It should make you ask yourself, “Am I ready yet?” And if not, how can I speed that process up?
One way is to assess your level of readiness. You can do this on a piece of paper or I na journal – it’s basically a chart or graph.
You list out all of the important aspects of your life for moving abroad. That will include:
- Travel Docs (passport/visa)
- Language
- Health
- Leaving Family
- Airlines
The list will be longer than that but you get the picture. They’re the critical areas that need your attention as you methodically plan your move abroad.
You rate each area and assign a value number to each one between 0 and 10, 10 representing the highest readiness to move (in that specific area).
The higher the value, the better prepared you are.
Let’s say you want to move to the coast of Zanzibar where we live, or even to Japan because you want to work somewhere with a view of Mt. Fuji – where you want.
You take time to reflect and recall a few Swahili phrases from The Lion King – or some greetings from your high school Japanese class. That level of readiness to speak the native language would be about less than a “5”.
Not looking good.
Conversely, a person who speaks either Swahili or Japanese fluently may rate themselves as a “10” and would mark that on the chart for Language. Get the picture?
We provide a tool to help you do this called the Readiness Wheel, which you can find in our FREE ebook.
You know we gotchu!
I saw a Japanese saying that reads: “The sum of the year is on New Year’s day.” Translation? Preparation and planning are the foundations of success. Your success.
Keep planning, keep organizing, and stay tuned – we’ve got lots more to share.
Peace and blessings!
